The East African Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (EACREEE) and the International Solar Alliance (ISA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with aim at deepening their co-operation in support of the promotion of sustainable solar energy systems.

The Business Forum “Decentralised Energy in Developing Countries", sheduled to take place on 2nd October 2018 in Vienna, Austria, features the release of the publication "Energy Access from the Bottom Up: Start-up and SME showcase 2018". The Business Forum is jointly organized by the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), with the support of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under the umbrella of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers (GN-SEC).

Under the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Austrian Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (MFA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) are co-organizing the High-Level Conference on Sustainable Energy and Development. The Conference will take place on 3rd October 2018 under the guiding theme “Regional Cooperation to Accelerate Sustainable Energy Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Developing Countries”.

UNIDO in partnership with ECREEE, RCREEE, EACREEE, SACREEE, PCREEE and CCREEE is organising the workshop "Partnership opportunities in the scope of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers (GN-SEC)" as part of the International Sustainable Energy Conference 2018 "Renewable Heating and Cooling in Integrated Urban and Industrial Energy Systems" on 4th October 2018 in Graz, Austria.


The IRENA/ADFD Project Facility is encouraging applications from government-driven renewable energy projects. USD 5 million to USD 15 million in concessional loans is available from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) at 1% or 2% loan rates, to cover up to half of the total project costs. The seventh cycle will open for summary applications between 12th November 2018 and 14th February 2019, however the application forms are already available to start working on.
