KAMPALA, 11 August 2017 – The 2nd Executive Board (EB) meeting of the East African Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency today has appointed Mr. Michael Ahimbisibwe (photo, left)  from Uganda as the Executive Director of EACREEE. Following the meeting of the 2ndTechnical Committee (TC), held between 9-10 August 2017, the Chairman of the Executive Board, Dr. Stephen Robert Isabalija, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development of Uganda, formally opened the 2nd EB meeting.


Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC), Saturday 13 May 2017


The Vienna Energy Forum (VEF) a global, multi-stakeholder platform for discussing key issues of energy debate and to move the global energy agenda forward, was held in Vienna, Austria on 11 and 12 May 2017. The biennial event was held at Hofburg Palace, located in the heart of Vienna – one of the most sustainable cities in the world.


With support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) team of 15 participants from Burundi, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda undertook a training course on renewable enrgy technology in China from 20-28 March 2017. The training was implemented within the framework of start-up and first operational phase of the East African Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (EACREEE).

 


The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in collaboration with the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat, has organized an official inauguration of the Centre of Excellence for the EACREEE in Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda on the 10th of June 2016.
